Following up on my last post on why I would not be voting today, in this post I have a couple of quotes from the early church fathers about the issue of church and state.

While there was not 100% unity from the Apostolic Fathers, the overwhelming consensus was that the Bride and Body of Christ was to be distinct from the secular world and that included its involvement in politics, war and secular events.

"In us, all ardor in the pursuit of glory and honor is dead. So we have no pressing inducement to take part in public meetings. Nor is there anything more entirely foreign to us than affairs of the state."
-Tertullian c. 195 AD

"It is not for the purpose of escaping public duties that Christians decline public offices. Rather, it is so they may reserve themselves for a more divine and necessary service in the church of God--for the salvation of men." - Origen c. 244 AD

Also consider these two articles from The Berean Call. They discuss the "Temporal Delusion" that most Christians have.

It is high time for the Body of Christ to be focused on the Body of Christ and it's head, Jesus Christ!
