This trend has really started to kick in. If you are already
doing it, great! (Also, please share your experiences and expertise here.) Our
family started doing some small gardening with raised beds. We planted.... We've
had lettuce and spinach up until almost Christmas. I'm convinced done right,
you can garden 365 in our area of Virginia.

Even if you don't plan on farming, be sure to read "Everything I Want To Do Is Illegal."It is a must read!
Homesteading
This is our families long-term desire. Buy some land in a
secure (not necessarily totally secluded) place, grow our own food (fruits,
vegetables, milk, chicken, meat, honey, etc.) and sell our produce to others.
But most importantly, set it up so our son can run it by the time he is 18-21
and we can put other homes on the property. Then as we age, our son and his
family can take care of us. The benefit, our children end up with a home and
land that is owned free and clear and they never have to pay for a mortgage or
rent.
This kind of goes with Homesteading, but you don't need a
homestead to start canning. Grow your food or buy some local "organic" food and
can it for the future. Better food this way, and it will save you money. Plus
it is a great skill in the event you need it all of a sudden. Here are some
helpful resources:
Sewing
Save money making your own high quality clothes.
Hunting
What a great thing to do to bond with your family or
children and provide food for yourself and others.
Home Based Family Enterprises
Here's where the rubber really meets the road. There are so many ways that your family can start a small home based family enterprise. This is a great way to have multiple streams of income into your family. Please consider these resources:

What I have in mind here is a place that a local body can go in the event of societal or economic disorder. While at the same time
More Intimate, More Biblical, New Testament Communities
I see this as a very significant and important trend,
perhaps the most important. If and when a crisis occurs, societal or economic
breakdown take place, persecution arises, I would much rather be part of a
close knit, truly members of one another, intimate New Testament community as
compared to some traditional church or mega church.

Panning For Gold
This could become a great, fun, family hobby. Obviously if
you live nowhere near a place where you are free to do that, then that might be
difficult. Apparently panning for gold is still worthwhile. I think it is worth
giving a try. If you find that it becomes a poor use of time, resources and
money, then stop.
Acquiring Gold and Silver for Security...Not Profit
One of the fundamentals to creating true Biblical Wealth is
to own physical gold and silver. Yes you can profit by buying and selling gold
and silver and yes you can lose money by buying and selling gold and silver so
I recommend you don't buy for profit, but you buy for security to protect your
wealth...and to have on hand in the event our current currency becomes useless,
which is a real possibility.
