Trouble In Amish Paradise

If you have not seen the BBC documentary called "Trouble In Amish Paradise", then please take the time to watch it.

The documentary is the story of an Amish family that chooses to follow Christ, instead of the traditions of their church. While they have not stopped living a "Amish lifestyle" they have stopped following all the rules and regulations set down by man.

I was personally moved by Ephraim's testimony. Here's a man, who through the reading the Word of God in plain English and not old German, comes to know Jesus Christ and through his relationship with Christ, he chooses to follow his Lord and Savior.

The key things that I took from watching this were:
  1. The Word of God, in an understandable language, changes the hearts of people in dramatic ways. Even people who think they knew God, but didn't.
  2. The testimony of Ephraim to spread the gospel to the Amish and regular folk of his community. Ephraim was even using bible tracts from Ray Comforts ministry Living Waters.
  3. His willingness to give away his lifes savings to help another family. He rightly mentions in the documentary that members of the early church would sell their homes so that another member could be ministered to. HOW MANY CHRISTIANS ARE WILLING TO DO THAT? VERY, VERY FEW. WHAT ABOUT YOU? If not, then you should probably reexamine your faith.
